Job Openings:

Mosquito Control Technician

Seasonal-Part time

$11.00 per hour

  • Job Summary:  Performs skilled entry-level technical work focused on mosquito control activities and involving chemical and other eradication methods for surveillance and abatement of mosquitoes.  The incumbent applies chemicals, following approved techniques, to maintain effective control of mosquitoes, undesirable pests and prevent damage to adjacent property or harm to animal or marine life; performs normal maintenance associated with spraying activities, assists in overall spray or other departmental operations, and may include routinely working on weekends and holidays.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Operates chemical spray equipment, utilizing proper abatement techniques.
    • Selects and mixes appropriate chemical agents considering infestation, environment, and vegetation.
    • Operates and maintains equipment used in chemical treatment operations including truck and sprayer.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • A citizen of the United States.
    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • A valid Arkansas driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three (3) years.
  • Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
    • Ability to obtain knowledge of mosquito control equipment and procedures.
    • Ability to speak effectively with citizens, business professionals, or employees of the City.
    • Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealing with the public and fellow employees.
    • Ability to keep track of details.
  • Additional Demands:
    • Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions including but not limited to extreme temperatures, harsh sunlight, extreme wet or dry conditions, etc.
    • Physically able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
    • Physically able to use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Physically able to lift and carry moderately heavy objects up to 100 pounds.
    • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, occasionally in precarious places and be exposed to potential electrical shock.
    • Physically able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to include footwear, helmet, and other.
    • Ability to work irregular hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.

Groundskeeper

Seasonal-Part time

$11.00 per hour

  • Job Summary:  The Groundskeeper-General Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically powered and gasoline powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.  The Groundskeeper also performs maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools and makes minor repairs (within demonstrated capability) as directed.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by mowing lawns with riding (zero turn) or push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks and buildings; weeding, thinning and cleaning flower beds and other grounds by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment; and setting up, adjusting, repairing, and cleaning irrigation systems.
    • Removes unsightly trash and debris from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds, drains, manhole covers, etc., for debris; raking, sweeping, and bagging leaves, debris, dirt and trash from streets, sidewalks, parking lots, tunnels, and transporting the trash to designated central collection points on a daily basis.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • A citizen of the United States.
    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • A valid Arkansas driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three (3) years.
    • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
    • Clean background check.
  • Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
    • Ability to operate zero turn mower and a string trimmer.
    • Ability to effectively pull a trailer with a truck.
    • Ability to speak effectively with citizens, business professionals, or employees of the City.
    • Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealing with the public and fellow employees.
    • Ability to keep track of details.
  • Additional Demands:
    • Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions including but not limited to extreme temperatures, harsh sunlight, extreme wet or dry conditions, etc.
